About the museum

The museum houses a unique collection of material from the Rehoboth region. From the rocks and minerals deposited millions of years ago to an overview of the activities of the rehoboth government of the 1980s.

History
The museum resides in the old postmasters' building which was built in 1903. Since then it has been extended and renovated. In 1984, the then autonomous Rehoboth government decided to establish a museum, which opened its doors in 1986. Currently the museum is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Rehoboth Town Council.

Co-operation
The museum is part of an international network of museums and foundations and is renowned for displaying a unique collection on the history of the Rehoboth Baster people.
